In a ruling issued by the Supreme Court of Israel, under the presidency of Miriam Naor, the state of Israel is ordered to immediately release and return the vessel ”Estelle” to its owners, the Swedish human rights organisation Ship to Gaza. The ship was boarded and seized by IDF in the fall 2012 during an attempt to break the inhumane blockade of the Palestinian enclave of Gaza.
Gaza is one of the most densely populated area in the world. There, 1.8 million Palestinians are living very close upon each other and most of them are unable to move in or out of the small sea strip, because Israel is keeping the borders hermetically closed. Gaza is therefore called the biggest outdoor prison in the world.
September, Cigdem Topçuoglu, whose husband was killed by Israel on board of Mavi Marmara in 2010, will be sailing with women from all over the world on the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s latest mission, the Women’s Boat to Gaza (WBG). Ms. Topçuoglu’s action symbolizes Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) position regarding the Israeli blockade of Gaza. It must be fully and unconditionally lifted.
The Women’s Boat to Gaza, a campaign of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition conducted its meetings over the past weekend to discuss and further plans to set sail towards Gaza in mid-September with all women delegates and crew. In doing so we raise the issue of the ongoing illegal blockade of Gaza. Shabnam Mayet, Human Rights Advocate of South Africa says, “The Israeli occupation consistently both violates International Law and disregards UN Resolutions with impunity.”
"Amal-Hope" and "Zaytouna-Oliva" are the names of two women's boats to be sent by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition to the besieged Gaza Strip in mid-September. "This month, in celebration of Mother's Day, we concluded our worldwide call to name the boats that will sail to Gaza.
